John Witherspoon Middle School Director of Instrumental Music Dr. Joseph B. Downey was inspired by the African proverb It Takes A Village To Raise A Child. He has arranged to bring together acclaimed artists from Broadway and opera to support the development of musical excellence and professionalism in aspiring young musicians.
There will be a special community concert at Princeton High School titled It Takes a Village. Professional instrumentalists and soloists from the Princeton area and some of Princeton’s finest young musicians will join professional solo artists from Les Misérables and Phantom of the Opera under Dr. Downey’s direction. The concert will include works by Copland, Fauré, Holst, Puccini, Rimsky-Korsakov, Vaughan Williams, and Broadway’s Les Misérables and Phantom of the Opera in full symphony.
This performance will take place at the Princeton High School Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, May 3 at 7 PM. The entrance is at corner of Franklin Avenue and Walnut Lane. Tickets are on sale now: $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors.
