I just heard about Magnificent You massage therapy & bodywork through my husband, who knows I love getting a massage and passed on the info of a new studio in town. I found it on Facebook, liked the fanpage, and a few weeks later received a message that I won a 30 minute massage. How could I turn down that opportunity?
I scheduled my appointment with the owner Simone, then read more about her studio. Here’s what’s unique about Magnificent You:
- She offers massages (including prenatal) and Reiki.
- Whatever amount of time you book, you get. An hour massage is 60 minutes, not 50.
- There is always a 30 minute break between massages, so you never have to hurry off the massage table.
- The price of a 90 minute massage is what others charge for 60 minutes.
- You’ll have a chance to win a 30 minute complimentary massage if you like her Facebook page.
- She makes house calls.
Magnificent You is on No. Harrison Street, and there’s ample free parking. When you enter, there’s a small waiting area, and one massage room. A soothing green color covers the walls, candles are lit, and New Age music is softly playing. After forms are fill out, and you’re asked what you like addresses, you undress and ease onto the table between the soft flannel sheets. When I got on the table, it was nice and warm, and I starting relaxing before Simone even entered.
I decided to have her concentrate on my back and shoulders. She started with a face and scalp massage, descended to my neck, then décoletté and shoulders. What a wonderful feeling. The stress melted away. Since I was lying on my back for that part, I turned over for my back to be treated. She took her time to find my trigger points and relieved all stress and pain.
Other massage studios I’ve gone to have been somewhat cookie cutter, and move you along for the next client. While Magnificent You may not be the chicest studio, Simone certainly offers things others don’t. The extra 10 minutes of massage and bodywork, plus a 90 minute message for the price of a 60 minutes, and up to about 15 minutes to relax on the table before changing is worth its weight in gold to me. If you weren’t counting, that’s 40 extra minutes of massaging!
Simone asks what you want, and listens to you and your body for guidance. She gives every client a bottle of water to drink to flush out all of the toxins after the massage, and keeps a record of every session to better help you.
Simone is German, and the Germans are known for high standards in education of all professions. Germany is also well-known for its spas. Simone definitely lived up to my expectations. She is not only a certified massage therapist, but she’s also a certified prenatal/postpartum massage specialist. (I could’ve really used her 10 years ago!) By the way, she speaks perfect English, and can also communicate in French and Spanish.
So, let me ask you again. Do you need a magnificent massage?
